Sick Leave

Sick? One tap — affected shifts go to handover automatically.

Sick leave vs. absence

In PlanFast, sick leave is deliberately separated from regular absences:

Sick Leave

Short-notice, urgent. No approval request — you just report sick. Effective immediately, affected shifts go to handover automatically.

Absence

Planned (vacation, appointments). Request with approval step. Shifts get reassigned by the admin.

Reporting sick leave

1

Open the sick-leave button

In the menu or on the dashboard. The first time, the app shows a hint via showcase.

2

Pick a time range

From when until when you're sick. If you don't know yet, you can extend later.

3

Confirm

Confirmation: "You reported yourself sick from <startDate> to <endDate>."

What happens automatically

Once your sick leave is submitted, the handover mechanism runs:

1. Shifts identified

All shifts in your sick range that are assigned to you are found.

2. Shifts go to handover

These shifts are marked for handover — other suitable employees can pick them up.

3. Team is notified

Push to admin and suitable employees: "An employee has reported sick." The handover requests appear on the dashboard.

4. Pickup

Another employee picks up the shift — voluntarily or assigned by the admin manually. More details: Shift Handover.

What admins can do

  • Review handover requests: The dashboard shows all open shifts caused by sick leaves.
  • Reassign manually: Tap a shift, pick a new employee.
  • Submit sick leave on behalf: If the employee can't use the app (e.g. placeholder or no phone available), the admin can file the sick leave for them.

Extending or ending sick leave

If sickness lasts longer, you can extend the range — newly affected shifts go to handover the same way. If you're back early and don't need the sick leave, you can withdraw it.

Picked-up shifts don't return

If a colleague has already picked up one of your shifts and you end the sick leave, the shift stays with that colleague — unless the admin explicitly returns it.

Effect on statistics

Shifts that went to colleagues via sick leave do not count toward your worked hours — see Statistics. They count for the colleague who actually worked the shift.
